- Each August Beloit College releases the Beloit College Mindset List, which offers a world view of today’s entering college students. It is the creation of Beloit’s Keefer Professor of the Humanities Tom McBride and Director of Public Affairs Ron Nief.
- The Higher Education Research Institute (HERI), UCLA
- The Higher Education Research Institute is based in the Graduate School of Education & Information Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. The Institute serves as an interdisciplinary center for research, evaluation, information, policy studies, and research training in postsecondary education. The Cooperative Institute Research Program (CIRP) is the nation’s oldest and largest empirical study of higher education, involving data on some 1,800 institutions and over 11 million students. It is regarded as the most comprehensive source of information on college students. The CIRP 2005 Freshmen Survey is the 40th freshmen survey conducted by this national research program.
