Student Prayer Gathering

Student Prayer Gathering
Kansas City – The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection
Dec 17th – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For the second year in a row, we are organizing a Pray 40 initiative among and for United Methodist campus ministries.  As we gathered in Nashville this past April to seek God’s face for this upcoming fall, we were moved to dream bigger.  The leadership at the Upper Room challenged us to consider inviting the Pan-Methodist family into this initiative in light of 2011 being the next gathering of the World Methodist Council in South Africa.  Add to this our interaction with Pete and his Campus America team, we believe God is calling us (all the children of Wesley) to strive for a year of unbroken prayer in 2011.
Our dream is to gather 200 students from across the country who will help shepherd this movement back on their campuses and in their regions.  In our time together, we are trusting that God will move to empower and embolden these students to be agents of resurrection back on our campuses.
The Team
To make this all it should be – we are gathering a design team represented by at least one person from the various Wesleyan denominations:  United Methodist, Free Methodists, Wesleyan, Nazarene, Assembly of God, AME, AME-Zion, CME, Salvation Army and as many of the other Wesley Cousins as possible.  At the moment, the team is shaping up to include:
Pete Greig has agreed to stay over with us to teach about prayer on the morning of Dec 17th.
Dr. Tom Albin – Dean of The Upper Room Chapel and Ecumenical Relations
Dr. Randy Beckum – Chaplain and Vice President of Student Affairs at Mid Nazarene is on board and helping to find lodging for the event.  Randy has also agreed to take the lead in connecting the other 8 Nazarene schools to this movement.
Rev. Ashlee Alley is my colleague from College Union and Refresh, but her day job is as the Campus Minister at Southwestern College in Winfield, KS.
Rev. Greg Haseloff is a United Methodist Elder who is serving as Chaplain of Asbury University in Wilmore, KY.
Rev. Creighton Alexander is the Director of Campus Ministry in the Missouri Annual Conference and Director for Refresh ‘ 10

Please email Creighton Alexander if you are interested in bringing a group of students or for any other questions.
