Day Thirty-Seven (September 22nd)
September 22nd, 2009Our Creator and Friend,
We give thanks for the way in which you are moving in the world and stirring the hearts of college students. We are humbled by our place in this movement and for the calling you have placed upon our hearts to walk in the gaps of life-” childhood/adulthood, faithless/faithful, de-churched/reformers, questions/certainty, the church/the academy, and even in the midst of life and death.
O God, as we come to you in these 40 days, may you search our hearts, challenge our minds, and help us to rise to the opportunities that stand before us. Help us to see how campus ministry can be a catalyst of change for both students’ lives and the world. May you guide each of us, in our own communities, to be more in tune with the movement of your kingdom on our campuses. Grant us, too, the patience that is needed for that movement and the challenges it may present.
Empower our campus ministry leaders, O God, as they serve students this academic year. Strengthen them for the journey that lies ahead and grant them the courage to follow more closely, love more freely, and serve more deeply.
We pray in the name of the one who ate with tax collectors, befriended prostitutes, changed lives, and conquered death…
Amen.
