Day Thirty-Four (September 19th)

September 19th, 2009

We pray today, Father, for those men and women who answer your call to campus ministry. We ask that as they enter the new academic year, they will be strengthened in the Spirit, so they can effectively navigate these hectic first weeks. Give them the energy to charge into a new year of ministry, new relationships, and fun new adventures with the students you send to them. As the times change, help them to stay on the edge of popular culture, campus cultures, and student issues, so they can speak knowledgeably into the lives of their students. Help them instill in their students the skills to lead the church, a vision for its future, and the resolve to bring that vision into reality.

In this economic downturn, as churches across the country make cuts, grant campus ministers wisdom to do more with less. Help them to be bold, knowing that a lack of money cannot stop the will of God and the movement of the Spirit. Never let fear stop anyone from building the kingdom!

Father, bless their families. Give them understanding and patience, as the calendar and schedule of campus ministry is often hectic, requiring late hours and many weekends. God, provide for their families. Be reminding our campus ministers to prioritize their families, making time to rest and enjoy life with them.

Most importantly, we ask that each of our campus ministers will come to know Jesus Christ more fully as a result of their service, and that Jesus will be known among their communities and their campuses through them. Father, thank you, for their willingness to serve and their heart to love the students in your kingdom and beyond. Amen.
