Day Thirty (September 15th)
September 15th, 2009Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for the breath of life that awakens us to this new day. Thank you for breathing life into your Church through campus ministry. May these ministries breathe that same life into the hearts and minds of students who seek to locate themselves in your new creation.
Loving Father, thank you for your Son, Jesus Christ, whom you sent as the Word of Life to inaugurate the new creation. Thank you for giving us his life and words through the gospel writers, that we might learn to walk in the way and obey his word. Thank you for calling those first disciples, so that we might know what true obedience looks like. May Jesus’ sacrifice be a reminder of all we need to surrender. May his resurrection remind us of the lives he has freed us to live.
Gracious Father, thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to empower us to live lives of holiness. As we seek to follow you, may our ministries be constant reminders to our students of the Spirit’s preventing, justifying, and sanctifying power. Grant us the grace, O Lord, not to quench the Spirit, but to follow the Spirit wherever the Spirit leads. May our lives and ministries be examples to our students of Spirit-filled lives, so that they will desire to grow in grace.
We pray these things through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
