Welcome
August 28th, 2008This month, College Union is looking at Student Leadership. Inside, you will get to hear from a few of your peers who offer their insights about working with this generation of college students.
Worship - Invitation to Join The Worship Seminary, by J.D. Walt, Asbury Theological Seminary. For the past year, I have been writing on a worship equipping website called Worship Frequency. The site is hosted by Chris Tomlin. The Message Board is called The Worship Seminary. By clicking on that link, you can sign up for free membership. I work with a group of 7 interns each year in the work of worship design and leadership at Asbury Theological Seminary. With this message board I am essentially trying to export a bit of that teaching and training to others involved in this work. Each week I write a short post and feature a 5-7 minute teaching clip via YouTube. It’s a small group so far but has the potential to become a good interactive discussion. If you are interested in such a conversation I welcome you to join us.
Staff Development - Student Leadership: Resetting Our Focus, by Clay Kirkland, UGA Wesley Foundation. Clay takes a look at what it mean to be in ministry to and with our student leaders.
Spiritual Formation - Training Others In the Name of Jesus, by Ashlee Alley, Southwestern College.
It’s a thin, small book with a non-descript cover. Just a faint green form, that you assume to be a cross, with black font on the front. The title: In the Name of Jesus: Reflections on Christian Leadership by Henri J.M. Nouwen.
Student Leadership - Undercurrents: Students Reach Students, by Gregg Taylor, University of Arkansas Wesley Foundation. Through a series of brief, blog-like articles, I want to highlight a few guiding principles of student leadership development. At least in my mind, these are some of the whys behind the whats, principles providing foundation for practice. Call these student leadership development undercurrents, maxims that focus our efforts and move us in a steady, consistent direction.
Keep looking back here for more articles in the coming weeks.
See you at the Union,
Ashlee & Creighton
