Student Leadership

February 27th, 2006

Gregg TaylorWelcome to the up-and-down, wonderful, crazy-making, creative, exasperating, amazing, maddening, strategic world of student leadership development.

Perhaps the most enduring aspect of what we do in campus ministry, developing student leaders is more about followship than leadership and character more than competency. Bottom line: Christian leaders are made on the road of discipleship.

Granted, as anyone who has invested a significant amount of time and energy working with college students can attest, the process is sometimes like riding a rollercoaster called Apollo’s Chariot. Yet, in spite of the head spinning, up and down journey, developing students who model Christ in their leadership produces a ripple effect with far reaching kingdom influence. God has given us the opportunity and privilege to invest in students who not only influence other students on the campus, but who will impact the church and the world when they leave us.

As we continue to develop this area of collegeunion.org, our hope is that you will be able to find resources to stimulate your thinking and deepen your commitment to developing your college students to follow Christ and to lead like him.
